Pinakotheke Cultural celebrates with an exhibition and book the 96th birthday of the artist who arrived in Brazil at age four, born in 1928, in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.
“Flavio-Shiró 96 anos, presente”, an exhibition currently underway at the Pinakotheke in Rio de Janeiro, brings together paintings, watercolors and drawings covering his career from the 1940s to the present day. To accompany it, Pinakotheke Editions has published a work with texts by Paulo Myiada and Max Perlingeiro with reproductions of the works in color, with 84 pages.
It is a rare opportunity for the public to revisit the work of Shiró, a painter from three different universes – he was born in Japan, grew up in Brazil and for more than six decades has divided his studio between Paris and Rio de Janeiro.
