Pinakotheke Cultural in Rio de Janeiro and the Instituto Pintora Djanira are pleased to present the exhibition “Djanira – 110 anos”, featuring 50 works by the great painter who portrayed Brazil and its people. Curated by Max Perlingeiro and Fernanda Lopes, the exhibition is comprised of five sections: Portraits; Religiosity – Rites, Myths and Dreams; Work and Genre Painting (a term coined in the Baroque period and used to define painting that portrays aspects of everyday life and ordinary people engaged in their activities); Records of Brazil; and “Aventuras de Procopinho”, gouache drawings on paper never before shown to the public.
