In 2024, Pinakotheke celebrates 45 years of history. It began its activities in 1979 as an organization specializing in the planning and production of exhibitions and books exclusively focused on the history of art in Brazil. Since then, it has presented numerous exhibitions and award-winning publications to the public.
The technical quality of its projects has earned it the distinction of having won the most important awards for cultural projects, books and art exhibitions, from the National Book Institute, the Brazilian Book Chamber, the Brazilian Association of Art Critics, the São Paulo Association of Art Critics, the National Foundation for Children's and Young Adult Books and the Brazilian Committee of the International Council of Museums.
In July 1994, it opened its own headquarters, with the completion of the environmental reconstruction process of the land and restoration of the buildings located at Rua São Clemente 300, in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro. The new headquarters has a carefully designed infrastructure for exhibitions equipped with exquisite information and communication resources; technical reserve of artworks implemented in accordance with rigorous standards of excellence; library and databases on the history of art in Brazil.
Although also active in the publishing field, Pinakotheke Cultural has been establishing various lines of activity aimed at technological and cultural improvement in the museum sector, working in the promotion of exhibitions, cataloging and preservation and security services for collections of works of art from public and private collections.
With an eye to the future, we reaffirm our commitment to the promotion of Brazilian art and dialogue between different generations of artists.
